"A handsomely appointed 176 seat club that offers stand-up comics, many
who've been on Letterman, Leno, HBO, Showtime, and Comedy Central. A
well balanced blend of aggression, wit, and chattiness...brings to NY a
headliner format that has proven successful in other parts of the
country. "

" 4/27/07 - New York Times
"In preparation for a national tour this fall,
Chris Rock has been showing up unannounced at New York
comedy clubs and doing long sets of new material.
On Wednesday night at Stand-Up NY, he performed for more than an hour, riffing on a range of
topics that included Jackie Robinson, Don Imus, the difference between a job and a career and what it's
like to be one of the few people living in an affluent area of New Jersey. He opened with a few remarks
about the Virgina Tech shooting but quickly abandoned that material, acknowledging to the audience,
'There's nothing funny about this, is there?'""
